Poland is a member country of WHO (World Health Organisation) from the very beginning of its existance, which means from the 7th of April 1948. Since then the 7th of April became an International Health Day. A headoffice is situated in Geneva. Country Office was created in July 1992. It is an integral part of WHO EURO which headoffice is settled in Copenhage. WHO activity in Poland is based on existing network of cooperating centers (Collaborating Centres, Counterparts and Focal Points) coordinated by LO and technical support rendered by this office.
Main actions undertaken currently by WHO EURO are: 2-years agreements result actions, activity against tuberculosis, Children Health and Environment Programme, Programme for Food Safety, Network of Health Promoting Schools, Network of Health Promoting Hospitals, Health Cities and many others.
